When you search for a roofing company near me in Arizona, you get a map full of pins and a page full of five-star claims. Sorting the real contractors from the storm chasers is the hard part.
I’ve been roofing in southern Arizona long enough to know what separates a company that’s here for the long haul from one that’s here for the season. Below are the things I’d check if I were the homeowner, plus what we do at DSR Roofing to meet that bar.
How to Vet a Roofing Company Near You in Arizona
Check for Local Chamber of Commerce Membership
One of the fastest ways to tell whether a roofing company is serious about your community is to check whether they’re a member of the local chamber of commerce.
Joining a chamber means a contractor is willing to be vetted by local business authorities. Chambers help local businesses thrive, and they provide a layer of oversight by confirming member businesses are properly licensed and actually doing the work they claim to do. That’s real security for a homeowner.
It also costs money to join. In a large metro area like Tucson, most small businesses can’t afford to join every chamber in the region. So when a small company commits to a specific local chamber, that tells you where their loyalty is.
We’re proud members of the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce.
Verify Their Arizona Contractor License
Any roofing company near you in Arizona should hand over its license number without hesitating. Ask for it, then look it up yourself on the Arizona Registrar of Contractors website.
You’re checking three things: that the license is active, that it’s classified for roofing work, and that there aren’t a pile of unresolved complaints attached to it. If a contractor gets cagey when you ask, that’s your answer.
Make Sure They Know Arizona Roofs
Roofs here don’t fail the way roofs fail in Ohio. Our enemies are UV exposure, extreme heat cycling, and monsoon downpours that hit a dried-out roof all at once.
A contractor who understands that will talk to you about things like elastomeric and silicone roof coatings, flat roof drainage, and underlayment life expectancy in desert heat. A contractor who doesn’t will quote you a full tear-off before they’ve been on the roof.
If you want a longer checklist before you start calling, we put one together in questions to ask your Tucson roofing contractor and in our six tips for choosing a roof coating company.
Ask Whether They Document the Work
You’re probably not going to climb up and inspect the roof yourself. That means you’re trusting whatever the contractor tells you about what’s up there.
Ask if they take photos before, during, and after. We do, on every job, so you can see the problem we found and the work we did to fix it. It’s the simplest protection a homeowner has against being sold repairs that never happened.
Dedicated to Green Valley and Southern Arizona
We want every one of our Green Valley and Sahuarita neighbors to know we’re here to serve with honesty, integrity, and quality work. Our motto is “Roofing it right the first time.”
If you have a flat roof and want elastomeric coating applied, we can help. If you’re not sure whether your roof needs cool coating at all and just want a straight answer, we’ll come out and give you a roof inspection first.
We work throughout the Tucson region, and you can see the full list on our service areas page. Green Valley and Sahuarita have a special place in our schedule, though. Monsoon season is hard on roofs down here, and we wrote about what we typically find in roofing challenges in Green Valley after monsoon season.
Senior Citizen, Military, and First Responder Discounts
One of the ways we show that dedication is with our pricing. We offer discounts for senior citizens, military members, and first responders.
I’m a retired military veteran, and giving back matters to me. Ten percent of the profit from every job DSR Roofing takes on goes directly to charities working to improve quality of life in southwestern Arizona.
A Roofing Company With Options
We have several programs for homeowners with flat roofs, because not every roof needs to be fully coated.
Some roofs just need repairs, patches, and simple touch-ups. Others need more extensive work. A few genuinely need replacement, and we’ll tell you that plainly when it’s true.
What we won’t do is sell you something you don’t need. If your roof has five good years left, we’d rather you hear that from us and call us back in five years.
